GO Concepts Meets Ohio Governor Mike DeWine
The GO Concepts team was honored to recently visit Ohio Governor Mike DeWine during his Warren County Career Center (WCCC) tour.
GO Concepts & The WCCC
GO Concepts has been a proud partner of the WCCC for many years. Over the course of our time working with the WCCC, GO Concepts has employed numerous students and graduates from both the WCCC’s high school and adult programs. Many of these hires continue their active careers with GO Concepts and elsewhere, filling key roles in the IT industry to this day.
Furthermore, we have donated IT hardware (including servers, routers, switches, and other networking equipment) for the WCCC to incorporate into their infrastructure and to use as hands-on training tools for their IT-related programs.
WCCC has recently announced that we have been named their “Valued Business Partner” for October, so watch for that on social media in the coming weeks.
“We very much appreciate our relationship with the Warren County Career Center, and we know firsthand the value of career technical education, especially in the information technology field,” said Dan Oliver, Co-founder of GO Concepts.
Meeting The Governor of Ohio
The GO team was invited by WCCC IT Instructor, Ryan Burgess to join them on-site during Governor DeWine’s visit to the main campus and the IT Lab. Our entourage included Dan Oliver, Co-founder and Senior IT Consultant, Joe Penney, IT Operations Director and WCCC High School IT program graduate, and Cole Acomb, IT Engineer+.
During the visit, Cole shared with Governor DeWine his time at WCCC and how his career in tech education prepared him for his role at GO Concepts. He also noted our team’s passionate service to the public sector through our focus on supporting Ohio’s County Boards of Developmental Disabilities and related organizations.
“Cole is an excellent example to others in the IT field or wanting to join… he was an incredible ambassador for GO and WCCC to Governor DeWine,” said Joe Penney, IT Operations Director for GO Concepts.
Recognizing Our Lasting Partnership
One of the many factors in GO Concept’s and the WCCC’s professional relationship is our CEO’s connection to the school. John Gambill Jr is the husband of Kim Gambill, Campus Director for WCCC’s Atrium Campus. The highly successful and modern campus hosts the WCCC’s health and science programs, including cybersecurity, for both high school and adult programs.
Kim is well known in Ohio’s career technical education world. She has worked in education for more than 30 years and with the WCCC for more than 24 years. For two decades, she was in charge of its programs for students with varying needs, along with Project Search.
Kim and John are passionate about working with and supporting individuals, especially young people, statewide. So, it was an honor to have the GO Concepts team visit with the Governor during his visit to the WCCC.
